Alcatel One Touch 838F Review of Pros And Cons

Picture of the Alcatel One Touch 838F, by Alcatel

We like how Alcatel handled the Facebook integration on this phone (it has a dedicated FB button and an upload-to-profile option for pictures taken with camera), the inclusion of QWERTY keyboard and the Wi-Fi. That said, we found some features that could have been improved, such as the 2.4-inch screen (why not a touch screen?) and the basic 3.2-megapixel camera.

On-paper Review rating:

Cons (or Not-so-great Features):

Only basic:

This is only a basic phone

Only a basic built-in camera:

Nobody will be amazed at your photos, considering that the One Touch 838F only boasts a 2-megapixel camera.

Unknown weight:

It's frustrating that we were not able to find information about its weight.

Now, the Pros:

Basic camera but decent options:

Though the 2-megapixel camera is only basic, it at least offer a few advanced control options, such as: Image size, Camera sound, Night mode, Brightness, Send by Email, Send by Bluetooth, Send by MMS, Upload to Facebook

Apps, but not a big choice:

This phone will let you download JAVA MIDP 2.1 apps. Definitely a plus, but don't expect to have as a good a choice as what your friends who own an Android smartphones or an iPhone can get in terms of free apps. The Java library of apps is more limited and less free apps are available.

** This phone is also known as: Alcatel Tribe 838, Alcatel OT-838, GoSmart OT 838
