Alcatel's Shine Lite, though not as shiny as most 2016 high-end models, potentially falls under a mid-range spotlight, with a front-and-back 2.5D-curved Dragontrail Glass finish leading its pros. That said, cons like an entry-level 1.3GHz quad-core processor (2GB RAM) and a near-average 2460mAh battery are part of its specs list as well. Its 5-inch HD-720p display also sounds second-rate compared to a few of its rivals' Full HD (1080p) screens.

On the flip side, a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with a dual-tone LED flash joins its favorable features -- it only captures up-to-HD videos , though, instead of Full HD. The Shine Lite also delivers fingerprint identification coupled with a private Safebox Folder . Additionally, it touts a 5-megapixel selfie camera with an LED flash of its own.

With 16GB of native memory and LTE Cat 4 connectivity topping off its pros and cons, the Alcatel Shine Lite is shaping up to be a passable option for mid-range shoppers with front-and-back durability in mind.
