The Asus Zenfone 4 Selfie Pro is a high-ranking camera smartphone equipped with one of the most-advanced selfie shooters on the market: a sophisticated 24-megapixel (12MP x 2) DuoPixel camera with Sony's flagship IMX362 sensor . A couple of the imaging pros that its 6P-lens twin front cameras deliver are 120-degree selfies (with depth-sensing) and Ultra HD (3840 x 2160) selfie video-recording , the latter making it one of the earliest smartphones to record 4K videos using the selfie cam.

Joining its upmarket specs is a 16-megapixel rear-facing camera with a 4K video mode of its own and a 0.03-second (according to Asus) phase-detection autofocus function . Electronic image stabilization (EIS) are present on both its cameras as well.

Despite its ultra-high-end camera technologies, the Zenfone 4 Selfie Pro suffers from a Full-HD-only (1920 x 1080) resolution on its 5.5-inch display , whereas a number of other premium-specked Androids boast QHD-1440p interfaces. Still, though, its screen benefits from a 2.5D-curved Corning Gorilla Glass finish , a fingerprint/smudge-resistant coating , and a favorable 500nit maximum brightness level .

As for its hardware, this Pro model replaces the plain Zenfone 4 Selfie's 1.4GHz eight-core engine with a more-capable Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 14nm 2GHz chip rigged with the FinFET LPP (Low Power Plus) power-saving technology . Escorting its high-end processor are an Adreno 506 graphics engine and a maximum of 4GB of RAM -- a 3GB-RAM model is also offered. Regrettably, just like the non-Pro version, it comes with no more than 3000mAh of power , rendering it less-desirable versus several other flagships -- those with at least 4000mAh of raw power, that is.

For storage, the Zenfone 4 Selfie Pro does not go beyond 64GB (eMCP) of internal memory , but it does support a mammoth 2TB's worth of external memory , dwarfing what some of its high-class rivals offer. Also part of its pros and cons is an audio system headline by DTS Headphone:X support , an NXP Smart AMP, and a single 5-magnet speaker . Its security features are led by a home-key-embedded fingerprint scanner , while an LTE Cat6/Cat7 (depending on market) adapter reaching up-to-300Mbps data rates crowns its network capabilities.

All said and done, the Asus Zenfone 4 Selfie Pro misses out on a fully-premium screen and a massive battery, but with top-of-the-line cameras overshadowing most of its other pros and cons, it sounds like a compelling purchase for the tech-savvy digital photographer.
