Gionee S8 Review & Pros And Cons

Housed inside a metal unibody , the Gionee S8's specs make it an upscale 2016 smartphone that misses on a couple of premium-tier targets.

Its setbacks include its lack of a 2K or Quad HD resolution , settling for Full HD instead, though its 5.5-inch interface does sport a 2.5D-arc glass finish . It could also have done better than a 3000mAh battery capacity, which, even though is by no means a deal-breaking con, is lower than the roughly-4000mAh power caps boasted by some of its competitors.

Heading over to the pros, the S8 is powered by a 2GHz octa-core MT6755 engine with a mammoth 4GB RAM tagging along. Multimedia junkies might also find its expandable 64GB memory and fingerprint detector more-than-decent.

Another strong suit for the S8 is the dual autofocus technology delivered by its 16-megapixel camera, which is basically a hybrid of laser autofocus and phase-detection autofocus or PDAF -- both used by many high-class Androids. Its 8-megapixel sub-camera also satisfies our expectations, although we would have loved to see 4K imaging as well.

Wrapping things up, despite its array of pros and cons lacking several premium punches, the Gionee S8 is no force to be reckoned with.
