Google's 2016 Pixel XL accompanies the flagship Pixel version, and it replaces its sibling's FHD-1080p-only 5-inch screen with a 5.5-inch QHD-1440p 534ppi display , while bringing back its support for VR games and utilities through Google's Daydream View headset , Snapdragon 821 (dual 2.15GHz + dual 1.6GHz) CPU , and hearty 4GB LPDDR4 RAM .
Sadly, though, it also brought back a couple of the smaller phone's cons, including the lack of a memory card slot and slightly-off-putting power cap (It has 3450mAh of power, while the Pixel has 2770mAh) -- we expected at least 4000mAh, which other high-ranking Androids boast in comparison. That said, it does come with 128GB of on-board memory and it claims to enable up to 7 more hours of usage under a 15-minute charge . Moreover, despite its 12.3-megapixel rear camera resolution not rising as high as what a few other premium contenders offer , the Pixel XL boasts top-end imaging perks, such as 4K video-recording, 240fps slow-motion HD video capture, and double autofocus technologies .
Joining the above pros and cons are a Pixel Imprint fingerprint scanner and an LTE Cat 11 network connectivity that consequently reaches up to 600Mbps data rates . It also delivers Google Assistant and the Google Duo video-calling app that works on both Android and iOS .
To rehash, the Google Pixel XL's bundle of specs may not be as extra large as some of our geeky friends had hoped, but it nonetheless winds up as a decent choice for the flagship smartphone hunter in our book.
