Huawei Ascend G 300 Pros & Cons Review

Picture of the Huawei Ascend G 300, by Huawei

Here is an Android smartphone with features that seem adequate for average use (4-inch touch display, a 1000Mhz CPU, a 5-megapixel camera, etc). One minor disadvantage, however, is that it comes preloaded with the older Android Gingerbread, which means one would have to update the software to the newer Android Ice Cream Sandwich. That said, we also like some of the special features like a 5-second boot time, quick charging and an anti-fingerprint body.

On-paper Review score:

First, the Cons:

Smaller battery:

Yes, the Huawei Ascend G 300's 1350mAh (1500mAh in some cases) of battery juice will get you through a day, but given this phone's 4.0-inch screen, we would have expected a battery with more capacity.

Unknown SAR rating:

Despite our efforts to find SAR (radiation) information for this phone, we never found it, which is sad. How can we know how much radiation this phone emits?

Just a TFT?:

TFT displays are ok (they used to be the best option), but in such a high-performance phone, we expect AMOLED, or even SuperAMOLED displays, renowed for their brightness in sunlight, richer contrast and lower energy consumption.

Unknown weight:

It's disappointing that we could not find its weight information.

Now, the Pros:

Other notable features:

It has these special features: Accelerometer, G-sensor, Proximity Sensor, Wi-Fi Direct

Comes with extras:

The box includes these accessories: USB cable, Headset.
