Despite being a high-caliber smartphone tailored to phone photography enthusiasts and audiophiles, the 2017 Huawei Honor 9 settles for a rather mild 8-megapixel front-facing camera 
, overlooking the 13-megapixel-and-higher selfie shooters that were widely available as we were reviewing its pros and cons. Furthermore, it opts for a Full HD (1920 x 1080) 5.15-inch screen , just like its Honor 8 predecessor, instead of rocking a truly-high-caliber QHD (2560 x 1440) facade.
Those cons aside, this Honor model does pack some solid selling points, one of which is its sophisticated dual-rear-camera system 
, comprising of a 12-megapixel RGB cam for standard photography and a 20-megapixel monochrome cam for picking out fine details and depth-of-field analysis. It also offers Ultra HD (3840 x 2160) video-recording as well as hybrid dual-lens zooming, which a good number of competing photography smartphones have in their arsenals as well.
For music lovers, the Honor 9 is equipped with Huawei's own-branded Histen 3D audio technology coupled with the Honor Purity equalizer dedicated to optimizing overall audio output. As for its hardware, the flagship-worthy Kirin 960 dual-cluster eight-core processor clocked at 2.4GHz + 1.8GHz revs from inside the engine room, with a hearty 6GB RAM (a 4GB variant is also offered) tagging along. Moreover, though we find its 3200mAh raw battery capacity questionable (It pales in comparison to the 4000mAh battery packs boasted by several other models with tantamount hardware setups), the Honor 9 scores a promising 78-hour offline music playback time .
Also part of its selection of pros and cons is either 128GB or 64GB of internal memory accompanied by an external memory allowance that caps off at 256GB . Its physical specs consist of a sandblaster metal frame and a 3D curved glass backing , with Glacier Grey, Midnight Black, and Sapphire Blue being its color options.
So, while it's clear that the Honor 9 won't turn any heads with its screen and selfie camera, its dual-rear-cam solution, audio system, and high-tier processing components make it an honorable upscale smartphone notwithstanding.
