iPhone 7 Plus Review of Pros And Cons

Somewhat becoming a tradition for Apple, the iPhone 7 is accompanied by this 5.5-inch Plus variant, which shares most of its pros and cons, but effectively has two 12-megapixel cameras on the rear (one for wide-angle shots and another for depth-of-field analysis/zooming) , instead of just a single cam. This camera system enables up-to-2x photo/video optical zooming with stabilization as well as up-to-10x digital zooming , with top-end imaging specs like a quad-LED true-tone flash as well as a six-element sapphire-covered lens joining in as well.

A couple of its cons consist of its lack of a standard 3.5mm headset jack (a weird decision from Apple with which many of our geekish colleagues also took issue) as well as the absence of a memory card slot , the latter being more expected, given the iPhones' history of passing up on memory expansion support. That said, it boasts pros outside of imaging as well, in the form of a Full HD (though we wish it rocked a Quad HD resolution , like several flagship Androids) 5.5-inch Retina HD display with 3D Touch and a 625 cd/m2 maximum brightness as well as a revamped Home button that introduces the Taptic Engine alongside Apple's Touch ID fingerprint-recognition system .

As for body and hardware, both iPhone 7 models rock an IP67-certified waterproof casing (a first for iPhones) and a 64-bit quad-core A10 Fusion chip that promises twofold the iPhone 6's processing rate. Moreover, despite its aforementioned lack of microSD support, the iPhone 7 Plus boasts 256GB's worth of built-in memory (128GB and 32GB models are available, too), while its LTE Advanced adapter promises data rates of up to 450Mbps -- roughly three times faster versus what the iPhone 6 offers.

Topping off the iPhone 7 Plus's feature set are its 7-megapixel FaceTime HD frontal camera (the most-advanced as of its release, since it adds a few new features, including Full HD video recording instead of only standard HD, auto image stabilization, and wide color capture), Siri , and an inbuilt battery scoring up to 14 hours of video playback and up to 900 minutes of Wi-Fi browsing .

In a nutshell, the iPhone 7 Plus is the go-to iPhone for shoppers who want everything the plain iPhone 7 has, but would prefer it with a larger display and a more-advanced imaging system.
