Kyocera Dura XA Pros & Cons Review

Picture of the Kyocera Dura XA, by Kyocera

Aside from its IP68 dust and water ratings, the Kyocera Dura XA boasts Military Standard (MIL-STD 810G) protection from extreme temperature, pressure, shock, vibration, solar radiation, and immersion under up to six feet of water for up to 30 minutes. Ironically, there isn't so much inside this phone's rugged housing that's worth such a high level of protection. At the heart of this device is a 480MHz processor accompanied by a 256MB RAM, which is probably just enough for basic messaging, but that might struggle with web browsing. The Dura XA flaunts a 2.4-inch color main display with a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels and a black-and-white external screen that shows the time, battery life, network signal level, and important notifications. It sports a decent 5MP auto-focus camera that supports video recording, but the on-board 512MB memory tells you to use it in moderation. Finally, while feature phones usually have longer battery lives, this one manages to have only about seven hours, which is definitely one of its cons in this category.
