LG Nexus 4 Pros & Cons Review

Picture of the LG Nexus 4, by LG

With the Nexus 4, Google and LG bring to the table this impressive smartphone. It boasts a quad-core CPU, 2GB of RAM, and a 4.7-inch HD display, all in a 9.1mm-thick body. Its 8-megapixel camera also includes the Photo Sphere feature, which LG claims can make awesome compound images from pictures shot over 360 degrees. The Nexus 4 comes in 8GB or 16GB variants. That being said, we were disappointed not to see any mention of an external memory card slot.

On-paper Review score:

Cons:

Below-average selfie cam:

In 2026, we would expect more than just 1.3-megapixel of selfie cam resolution.

No trace of a memory expansion slot:

Does it have any memory expansion slot? Despite our efforts, we couldn't find out.

Unknown weight:

It's frustrating that we were not able to find information about its weight.

Pros:

4.7-inch screen is larger than usual:

It features a rather large, 4.7-inch display, with a 1280 x 768 resolution.

Large onboard memory:

It boasts a larger internal memory (16000MB/8000MB), but it may sometimes be more interesting to buy a phone with an included memory card instead, since the memory card can then be reused in a future cell phone.

Interesting camera:

Superior camera resolution - 8-megapixel - with these features: Photo sphere, 360 Panorama.

Special characteristics:

It offers the following special features: Accelerometer, Data Tethering, NFC

HDMI connector:

The HDMI port will be useful to watch HD (1920 x 1080 resolution) videos recorded with the LG Nexus 4 on an HDTV (HDMI cable might be sold separately).
