While this early 2015 Android is a relatively new edition of the Motorola Moto E, its VGA selfie cam and 5-megapixel rear camera are nothing new to the entry-level Android class. Its quad-core processor running at 1.2GHz is quite common for a starter model as well, but is nonetheless an improvement over the first Moto E's dual-core engine.
Over on the positive side of its pros and cons, the 2nd Gen retains the anti-scratch protection from a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 frame , which we find aptly matched by its waterproof and anti-smudge shell finishes.
The Moto E 2nd Gen is not a massively impressive entry-level release, but it is still a step forward for Motorola's basic smartphone family.
