Nokia 6 Pros & Cons Review

- Analysis by Christelle Nina

Like the rest of Nokia's early 2017 Android releases, the Nokia 6 boasts of a "pure" Android interface . That is, its Nougat 7.1.1 operating system runs without any pre-installed bloatware -- a big plus for Android purists. All of its versions have an octa-core Snapdragon 430 CPU which, at a relatively-slower clock speed of 1.4GHz , is not something you'd expect from a phone that's touted as a brand's "flagship" model. However, this may still be slightly justified by the fact that the Nokia 6's release price tag is still a lot cheaper than the usual top-shelf models from other companies.

Its 16-megapixel main camera is quite a winner, in the sense that it beats those that are offered by more expensive flagship devices like Google's Pixel XL and Apple's iPhone 7 Plus. Its 8-megapixel selfie cam, which comes with autofocus , is also an encouraging feature for avid selfie-takers.

Memory-wise, the Nokia 6 comes with 32GB of local storage, save for the Arte Black version which comes with a promising internal memory of 64GB . Its RAM varies, as well -- with the special Arte Black phone running with 4GB of RAM . The rest of the Nokia 6 lineup, however, comes with a slightly-smaller 3GB RAM .

When it comes to the pros and cons of its display, its 5.5-inch screen is protected by Gorilla Glass . Its resolution is definitely not as impressive compared to the 2560 x 1440 displays offered by 5.5-inch flagships, but at 1920 x 1080 pixels, it is more than adequate for a phone at its price tier.

While the aluminum chassis of the Nokia 6 lends it a sleek look, it is thicker than many comparable models at 7.85mm . This may be a concern for fans of thinner smartphones.

All in all, the Nokia 6's collection of pros and cons makes the smartphone appear to be laden with features that are more high-end than what its price would usually command. While some of its prided pros (like the absence of additional software) may still be up for debate, the Nokia 6's camera specs and display are surely things that Android fans (who aren't too fussy about thickness) will likely appreciate.
