Nokia Lumia 720 Review of Pros And Cons

Picture of the Nokia Lumia 720, by Nokia

This Windows Phone 8 smartphone has some respectable features to offer aside from its posh design. We are pleased with the 6.7-megapixel camera with advance photography features and the large 2000mAh battery. Its main features (a 1GHz dual-core CPU and a 4.3-inch touchscreen) are decent enough too. On the other hand, we think that the 720p video camera and the 512MB RAM could have been improved.

On-paper Review rating:

Let's Look at the Cons:

Higher radiation:

The Nokia Lumia 720's SAR rating of 1.24 watts per kilogram of body mass is part of the highest, on a scale of zero (0) to 1.60. Even if health hazards linked to mobile phone radiation are not proven, you may be interested to know that there are plenty of good phones that generate less radiation than this one.

Apparently no HDMI plug:

It's all well and good that the Nokia Lumia 720 can record fancy 1280 x 720 videos, but we're surprised we didn't find any sign of the Lumia 720 sporting an HDMI port (which comes in handy to watch HD videos on your shiny HDTV without having to move them first to your computer).

Newer smartphone platform:

The operating system (OS), Windows Phone 8, is not yet as popular as Android or the iPhone's OS (iOS). Therefore, keep in mind that there will be less apps available for this phone.

Below-average front cam:

By today's standards, we demand more than just 1.3-megapixel of selfie cam resolution.

Unknown weight:

It's frustrating that we were not able to find information about its weight.

Now, the Pros:

The memory can be expanded up to 64 GB:

The Lumia 720 is not sold with a memory card but it can accept up to 64 GB in memory expansion, which is convenient to store pictures and video clips taken with the built-in 6.7-megapixel camera.

Larger onboard memory:

It includes lots of internal memory (8000MB), but it may sometimes be more interesting to buy a phone with an included memory card instead, since the memory card can then be reused in a future cell phone.
