OnePlus X Pros & Cons Review

Picture of the OnePlus X, by OnePlus

- Analysis by KJ David

From the looks of it (no pun intended), the OnePlus X focuses more on aesthetics than the OnePlus 2, trading off some processing power in the process.

Its primary pro is a body made of either zirconia-based Ceramic or Onyx black glass , with a choice between several textured cases , including stuff like Nan Bamboo as well. It replaces the OnePlus 2's octa-core CPU with a quad-core Snapdragon 801 2.3GHz chip , which may have peaked with 2014 premiums like the LG G3.

For its imaging, the X sports roughly the same rear and front camera resolutions (13- and 8-megapixel) as the 2, but lacks 4K video recording this time around . We also found a con in the absence of a fingerprint detector and USB Type-C , which are both offered by the previous OnePlus model. On the bright side, though, it brings back the dedicated alert slider feature , basically letting you juggle up to three notification profiles without taking the phone out of your pocket.

All said, we still get an upscale vibe out of the OnePlus X, though users might be divided between this design-oriented model or the more performance-driven OnePlus 2.
