The Padgene R8's metal-like finish (but which is actually plastic) can make it look more premium than it really is, but the specs sheet doesn't lie. Its camera features are especially dispiriting, with a 5-megapixel rear-facing shooter 
joined by a 2-megapixel selfie camera . To soften the blow of having such low resolutions, the R8 offers an LED flash both on its rear and front 
, but even the most timid selfie-taker probably won't be able to discount the sub-par megapixel count on its sensors.

Its display is also a potential source of discouragement, since the large 6-inch screen has to make do with a resolution of 720p. This amount of pixels isn't rare in the budget market, but the consequence of this combo is a fineness count of only 245DPI .

The quad-core 1.3GHz processor governing the R8's functions is pretty average. However, its 1GB RAM size is a definite con.
In spite of these aforementioned setbacks, the R8 is determined to still make a convincing case for itself by banking on a 3000mAh battery . This much power, in combination with the basic-level features of this phone, presents the prospect of a relatively-good lasting time.
Adding to this list of pros and cons is the R8's exterior. Although it's not exactly the thinnest device at 0.32 inches, its 5.64-ounce body is lighter compared to many of its rivals .

To be fair, one cannot expect to be wowed at the R8's price range. However, we still can't help but feel that this smartphone's mission to make a mark on the budget market, with the aforementioned pros and cons in mind, is too much of a reach.
