Samsung's highest-ranking CES 2017 release, the Galaxy A7 2017, is a 5.7-inch phablet whose cons include passing up on a QHD-1440p screen resolution , settling for a Full HD (1080p) definition instead, and a 32GB-only internal memory -- plenty of other flagship-level Androids kick off with 64GB of internal storage. That said, it does support up to 256GB's worth of top-up memory , which is way more than what some comparable models support.

Heading over to its admirable specs, the A7 2017 packs a 16-megapixel f/1.9 rear-facing primary camera and a promising 16-megapixel selfie camera, also with an f/1.9 aperture , the latter being quite a rare facet in the high-end department, at least as of its release. Given its pair of high-resolution shooters, however, this A-series edition's FHD-1080p maximum video recording resolution ends up as a con, since it would have been a good venue for UHD (2160p) video-recording.

Best Selfie Phones

Under the hood, it operates on a 1.9GHz octa-core processor clubbed with a 3GB RAM . We would have loved to see at least 4GB of RAM, though, if only to keep up with a few full-fledged premium models. As for stamina, it powers up from a respectable 3600mAh with Samsung's Fast Charging technology . Also, it rocks a waterproof and dust-tight (IP68) rugged shell furbished with a 3D glass backing , a feature what we do not usually get out of artsy flagship models like itself.

Octa-core Smartphones

Also part of its assortment of pros and cons is a fingerprint scanner implanted into its home button , which can be used with its integrated Secure Folder application . It also comes with LTE Cat 6 network compatibility and NFC (Samsung Pay preloaded) .

With the Android 6.0.16 Marshmallow tying its pros and cons together, the Samsung Galaxy A7 2017 has the makings of a smartphone for those looking for high-end imaging and performance delivered in a water-right package.
