Samsung's Galaxy A series leaps from a mid-level to a high-end array of pros and cons with the 2015 Q1 unveiling of the 5.5-inch Galaxy A7.

A 720p HD display resolution is one of its cons, as upscale buyers will likely prefer 1080p Full HD screens, though the Super AMOLED technology makes it a tad forgivable. Android fans might also prefer a preloaded Android 5.0 Lollipop OS instead of its KitKat version -- a free upgrade is likely to be available, however.

Its pros include 1.5GHz and 1GHz quad-core chips (8 CPU cores in total) assisted by a 2GB RAM .

The A7 also trims down the all-metal unibody casing to 6.3mm , though it does not appear to compromise other specs.
