As expected from a Plus variant, the Samsung Galaxy A8 Plus 2018 stretches its sibling's specs in terms of display and storage capacity. That being said, it was not safe from our sharp eye when it comes to pros and of course, cons.

Kicking off with its downsides, this Plus model still falls short of our 4000mAh ultra-high-end benchmark for raw battery capacity , coming with a 3500mAh battery pack, although it is significantly-higher than the 3000mAh offered by the plain Galaxy A8 (2018) . The A8+ 2018 also misses out on a premium-class QHD+ (1440p) screen resolution, instead settling for an FHD+ (2220 x 1080) sharpness . With its rare (as of this data-driven review) 18.5:9 aspect ratio and Super AMOLED Infinity Display screen architecture , however, display resolution is not that big of a drawback for this 6-incher. It may even find itself among the top-ranking phablets that entered the market around roughly the same time.

The biggest difference-maker for the A8+ 2018 as far as pros and cons are concerned is its Dual Front Camera , comprising of a 16-megapixel primary camera and an 8-megapixel deputy-cam (both have f/1.9 apertures). While its flagship-caliber dual-lens selfie camera suffers from a fixed-focus capacity (Several popular selfie smartphones sport autofocus-enabled front cams), the A8+ 2018 still packs a punch with features like Live Focus -- for adjusting things like background blur -- in tow. It also features a respectable rear-facing camera, in the form of a 16-megapixel f/1.7-aperture PDAF-equipped shooter .

Providing its aforementioned pros and cons their much-needed processing power is the Exynos 7885 dual-cluster eight-core engine , which is made up of a 2.2GHz dual-core cluster for demanding applications and a six-core 1.6GHz cluster for day-to-day usage. It is accompanied by up to 6GB of RAM (A 4GB-only version is also available), with a 64GB/32GB memory expandable by up to 256GB taking charge of multimedia storage. Also among its perks are the NFC- and MST-powered Samsung Pay application and Samsung's proprietary Bixby virtual assistant .

Housed inside an IP68-rated (for water- and dust-proofing) shell , the Samsung Galaxy A8+ (2018)'s feature set may have its flaws, but it nevertheless fits users in search of an upscale phablet rigged with high-caliber cameras and promising hardware.
