For the purpose of getting the biggest drawback out of the way, let's start this pros and cons review with the Samsung Galaxy J3 Emerge's cameras. Right off the bat, we don't see a particular effort for making it lightweight, as it weighs 147 grams, pretty much the average as of its launch, and considering that this is a smaller (5-inch) device... it should be lighter than the average. Also, a disturbingly-low-resolution 5-megapixel sensor is located on its rear, while its counterpart at the front manages to take only 2-megapixel selfies -- two camera resolutions that are inferior compared to what many of the competition offer

On the other hand, its hardware puts up a notably-worthy fight. Armed with a Qualcomm MSM8937 Snapdragon 430 CPU (for the Sprint version) 
, its 1.4GHz clock speed and eight cores are both cuts above the rest -- definitely a pro. This extends to memory specs, as well. At its particular market where RAM sizes of 1GB abound, an extra 500MB (for a total RAM of 1.5GB ) already represents an increase of 50 percent. Its 16GB native storage is pretty much the norm among its peers, but its relatively-high memory expansion limit of 256GB is striking.

Another redeeming quality is the amount of power stored in the J3 Emerge's tank. It hides a reassuring 2600mAh battery under its shell, which will likely be even more maximized by the quality of its camera (or lack thereof).
The Emerge also presents itself as a strong contender if a device's handiness is your thing. Its physical dimensions (140.9mm x 70.1mm x 8.7 mm) make it more compact than many other smartphones in its subcategory . Moreover, it is on the lighter side of the spectrum at 147 grams .

Clearly, the Emerge's set of pros and cons heavily hinge on the lack of competitive imaging capabilities. But if a relatively-reliable (battery and performance-wise) and compact phone is all that you're after, it's easy to see how this device can be a pretty attractive option.
