Samsung Montage Review of Pros And Cons

Picture of the Samsung Montage, by Samsung

With its two keyboards, the Montage gives the user messaging flexibility. The external 12-key alpha-numeric keypad can be used for short quick replies, while the sliding QWERTY is more suitable for longer messages or emails. The 2-megapixel camera, however, does not impress us at all.

On-paper Review rating:

Let's Look at the Cons:

Above-average radiation level:

If you are worried about cell phone radiation, keep in mind that the Samsung Montage has a slightly above-average SAR rating (1.09 w/kg). It's not necessarily too much (we've seen worse) but it's also not one of the smallest SAR ratings.

Only basic:

It is just basic

Entry-level integrated camera:

Your photos won't impress anybody with a 2-megapixel camera.

Unknown weight:

It's frustrating that we were not able to find information about its weight.

Pros:

Physical slide-out keyboard:

Of course, we like the slide-out hardware keyboard.

Apps, but not a big choice:

This phone will let you download Java apps. Definitely a plus, but don't expect to have as a good a choice as what your friends who own an Android smartphones or an iPhone can get in terms of free apps. The Java library of apps is more limited and less free apps are available.

** This phone is also known as: Samsung Array, Samsung M390, Virgin Mobile Montage
