Simply put, the Telstra Easy Call 4 (ZTE T403) is a mere call-and-text handset that pales in comparison to most other basic monoblock phones, at least when it comes to technical specs.
Its cons include its lack of even a basic camera , which, as of this write-up, was an outright selling point for any basic bar-type handset. Additionally, it forgoes a memory card slot and a secondary SIM card slot , both of which are typical pros offered by many of its monoblock competitors. What it does have is programmable emergency call key -- obviously for aging users -- and a larger-than-usual, if only slightly, display size of 2.5 inches (LCD, 320 x 240).
Also part of its pros and cons is a 1900mAh battery capacity that overtakes what plenty of other 2016 bar phones have. Don't get too excited just yet, though, since its self-attributed battery scores, including a 240-minute-only talk time and a 300-hour standby time fall way below the corresponding averages as of this review.
As for the rest of its modest pros and cons, the Easy Call 4 comes with a 2-year warranty period , which is twice what manufacturers usually allot for phones in this class, and 3G-UMTS band compatibility -- many other basic candybars settle for 2G GSM networks. Also, it comes with an LED torchlight and T-Coil hearing aid support , for elderly users who have less-than-perfect hearing. Lastly, it measures 13.75mm thick , which we flagged as a con, since we've seen some comparable basic handsets measuring somewhere around 12mm only.
In a nutshell, the Easy Call 4 targets elderly users -- or extremely-practical ones -- who want a simple, compact mobile companion.
