Xgody Y19 Pros & Cons Review

- Analysis by Christelle Nina

The Xgody Y19 looks like it has put in a lot of effort in building a personality, so that it can set itself apart from other rare-brand cheap smartphones. For the record, it's quite successful in generating some attention, but not in the way it may have originally planned.

For instance, it boasts of a dual-lens camera on its rear. This sounds good -- until you find out that the second camera sensor has only 0.3 megapixels of resolution . Nonetheless, the other sensor is 13-megapixel , which is a promising figure in comparison to many of its competition. The 5-megapixel selfie shooter, meanwhile, is decent but not as impressive. Good thing it has an LED flash keeping it companyt .

Moving on, we also can't help but feel that Xgody harshly neglected the Y19's battery specs. 2900mAh doesn't sound extremely-disappointing per se, but knowing that it has a manufacturer-rated stand-by of only 80 hours and a talk time of only 10 hours (both being maximum values), it definitely speaks volumes about how this device handles its power allocation.

This 6-inch phablet aims to cater to people who would like a bigger screen for games or other multimedia purposes. Unfortunately, we can't see how the resulting 244DPI display sharpness would be able to successfully convince, since the Y19's resolution sits at only 720p.

The display's size may have also compromised the Y19's handiness too much, since its 3.35-inch width and 6.54-inch height are both exceptionally-large for a smartphone. Being 6.9 ounces also puts it among heavier phone models as of this article's writing.

Continuing this pros and cons list is the Y19's quad-core 1.3GHz, which is pretty average in itself. However, its 2GB RAM is relatively-promising, which makes the performance arena one of its least-compromised facets.

Leaving out the rather-perfunctory 0.3-megapixel second rear sensor, the Y19 still ends up looking like an acceptable device with its own unique set of pros and cons -- save for its dire battery situation. With its price range, it's always best to keep expectations in check, but it's difficult to see how its longevity issue can be easily-tolerated by most users.
