Xiaomi Mi 5S Plus Review & Pros And Cons

While it sounds like a better phone overall (in terms of technical specs), this 5.7-inch Plus version of the 5.15-inch Mi 5S weirdly scores a lower brightness level of 550nit and a pixel density of only 386ppi -- the smaller version boasts a 600nit brightness and a 428ppi definition. Considering its premium-class hardware, its Full-HD (instead of Quad HD) screen resolution also ends up as a con. Additionally, its 3800mAh power cap does not cut it for us, considering that a good number of comparable models have more-than-4000mAh stamina bars.

Heading over to its pros, the Xiaomi Mi 5S Plus struts around the flagship streets with a gigantic 6GB RAM and a quad-core Snapdragon 821 CPU clocked at 2.35GHz . Furthermore, it scraps the 5.15-inch model's 12-megapixel rear camera for a dual 13-megapixel rear camera setup, which still records Ultra HD (2160p) videos .

The remainder of its pros and cons include a whopping 128GB of memory , though it lacks a microSD card slot for storage expansion , a fingerprint sensor at the rear, and a 4-megapixel selfie camera that tries to make up for its low resolution by rocking 2-micron-large pixels . Joining the mix are two nano SIM card slots and the Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS skinned with MIUI 8.

In a nutshell, the Mi 5S likely fares well versus other 2016 premium smartphones, probably hitting the right buttons for many tech-savvy buyers.
