- Analysis by KJ David
A top-end phablet that literally mixes its body to its display, the Xiaomi Mi Mix boasts a 6.4-inch screen scoring a 500nit brightness and a whopping 91.3% screen-to-body ratio (most other 2016 Androids have only 70% ratios in comparison) alongside a full sapphire-based ceramic body .
That being said, those key pros are tied up with cons like an awkwardly-low (for a flagship smartphone) 362ppi pixel density and the absence of a microSD card slot . It also has Full-HD-only (2040 x 1080) display resolution -- we were expecting a Quad-HD-1440p definition -- and a relatively-modest selfie cam resolution of 5 megapixels .
As for the rest of its specs, the Mi Mix touts a 2.35GHz Snapdragon 821 processor clubbed with a reassuring 4GB LPDDR4 RAM . It also offers 128GB of USF2.0 memory , making its lack of external memory support rather acceptable. Additionally, it supports its edge-to-edge display architecture with a high-capacity 4400mAh Fast Charge 3.0 battery , though its low 256-hour standby time caught us off guard. Joining its pros and cons are a 16-megapixel 4K-video color-temperature-flash main camera and a circular fingerprint scanner .
In the end, though the Mi Mix has some setbacks in the mix, it nonetheless calls out to shoppers in search of an Android with an expansive screen backed by some first-rate hardware components.
