Not to be confused with the Redmi Note 3, Xiaomi's 2017 Mi Note 3 tries to make a name for itself with a few premium-level pros up its sleeves -- our keen eyes still spotted some cons, though.
Sitting atop its list of notable specs is a mammoth 6GB RAM working hand-in-hand with its high-ranking Snapdragon 660 2.2GHz 64-bit octa-core processor . Now, although its engine does not quite threaten what some of the fastest smartphones out there have (most of which run at 2.4GHz or higher), lugging 6GB's worth of RAM undeniably makes it a solid upscale contender with respect to performance. That being said, its relatively mild 3500mAh battery capacity sounds problematic to us, since we expected at least 4000mAh on a phone with this much RAM.

Fortunately for the Mi Note 3, performance is not its only strong suit, considering that both its rear and front cameras safely pass 2017 flagship standards. By this, we mean that its imaging pros and cons are led by twin 12-megapixel cameras perched at the back , decked out with hardware-level electronic image stabilization (EIS) and a dual-color temperature flash . Sitting on the opposite side is its 16-megapixel 5P-lens selfie camera , which tries to attract users with its promising raw pixel resolution.

Regrettably, its display fails to match the level of sophistication that its hardware and cameras bring to the table, seeing as it rocks only a Full HD (1920 x 1080) definition on its 5.5-inch OLED interface, despite a good number of tantamount models boasting Quad HD (2560 x 1440) screens. It also rips a page off the iPhone's playbook by not featuring a standard 3.5mm headset jack , instead requiring a Type-C-to-audio adapter cable. Additionally, it does not support any room for storage memory expansion , but it does pack 128GB of on-board memory (a 64GB is offered as well), which was still satisfactory around the time of its release.
Also in its mix of pros and cons are facial recognition unlocking on top of its standard fingerprint reader , a fashionable 4-sided curved glass body , and a 7 series aluminum alloy chassis . It runs Android 7.0 Nougat skinned with Xiaomi's signature MIUI 9 out of the box and comes in either Black or Blue.
All said, the Xiaomi Mi Note 3 may flounder versus some other 2017 flagships in terms of power and display, but its massive 6GB RAM and high-caliber cameras make it a reasonable choice for tech-savvy users regardless.
