ZTE Axon 9 Pro Review & Pros And Cons

ZTE's Axon 9 Pro is a flagship-class contender that resembles many of the leading wide-screen smartphones of its time, touting a 6.2-inch AMOLED interface with a wide 18.7:9 aspect ratio and support for high-class HDR10 content. Its list of display pros and cons is not flawless, though, as it settles for a 1080p definition only , possibly falling on the back foot versus some competing high-enders -- those boasting 2K-1440p screen resolutions that is.

Also a slight con to us is its 128GB native memory , knowing that some of the best smartphones listed here on Phonerated as we were writing this specs-based review pack at least 256GB of on-board memory.

Still on its hardware, this Axon model's Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 eight-core processor made it one of the fastest phones around the time of its market entry, peaking at 2.8GHz -- the default speeds of its two clusters are 2.65GHz and 1.76GHz accordingly. It is clubbed with a 6GB LPDDR4X RAM that sounds worthy of a high-end contender.

Imaging also seems like a strong suit for the ZTE Axon 9 Pro, being equipped with an AI-powered double-lens rear cam consisting of a 12-megapixel 1.4-micron-pixel main lens and a high-resolution 20-megapixel lens angled at 130 degrees, obviously for scenic shots and landscape photography. Also on board is a promising (by 2018 standards) 20-megapixel selfie camera carrying ZTE's 4-in-1 pixel technology.

Also part of its assortment of pros and cons is a 4000mAh battery that powers up through either the wired QC 4.0 system or wireless charging, while a rear fingerprint scanner headlines its security suite. It also has an IP68-rated exterior , making it dust- and water-tight. It also promises a respectable 800Mbps maximum data rate and it has the Dolby Atmos technology taking charge of the music department.

With all those features in place, the Axon 9 Pro is shaping up to be a feasible choice for users who value performance and photography the most.
