ZTE Blade A510 Review of Pros And Cons

For a 2016-released smartphone with blade within its moniker, the ZTE Blade A510 sure is pretty dull, at least on the hardware front, with its cons being led by a low-ranking 1GHz quad-core MediaTek MTK6735P processor and, you've guessed it, no more than 1GB of RAM .

We are not pleased with its 2200mAh power capacity as well, considering that a few other Blade A-series members tout massive 4000mAh cells -- heck, its power cap even falls below the average of roughly 2300mAh as of this review.

The A510 still has its pros, however, one of them being the HD (1280 x 720) resolution on its 5-inch screen , which, though nothing to brag about, is obviously better than a few of its entry-level rivals' WVGA/FWVGA (480p) definitions. That being said, a Full HD screen would have gone a much longer way for this starter-class model. We also caught VoLTE (Voice over LTE) , a technology claiming to enhance overall in-call audio reception, among its specs. VoLTE, by the way, is a consequence of its 4G LTE network connectivity , which gives it an edge over a good number of other low-tier Androids when it comes to web browsing.

The remainder of the Blade A510's pros and cons include a passable (by 2016 standards) 8-megapixel rear-facing camera with an LED flash and an equally-respectable 5-megapixel selfie camera , the latter being one of the hottest trends in this smartphone class when it came out. As for its 8GB expandable memory, we say it's just about right, since a 4GB storage would have been an outright setback, while 16GB on a phone of its caliber would make for a significant selling point.

Adding a final touch to the A510's bundle of pros and cons is its relatively-wide range of color options , which include lavender and gold, probably an attempt -- the success of which we cannot determine -- to attract its entry-level target clientele.
