The ZTE Blade V8 looks like a welcome treat for selfie lovers, with its 13-megapixel front-facing sensor that beats those of even 2016 flagships. The situation is just as promising at the back, with a dual 13-megapixel + 2-megapixel camera taking the reign. The flagship-level imaging specs stop here, however, as this smartphone records videos at a maximum resolution of 1080p only -- as opposed to its close cousin, the ZTE Blade V8 Pro, which can produce 4K clips. It's important to note, however, that the latter doesn't offer a front-facing shooter that is as promising as the "plain" Blade V8's.
The Blade V8 also boasts a 5.2-inch 1920 x 1080 display, producing an encouraging display fineness of 424DPI , which is good enough at its price point. On top of this, it sports a 2.5D curved glass display , which makes the Blade V8 appear more high-end than it really is.
Its hardware specs warrant a few pros and cons, as well. Its 3GB RAM and eight-core CPU are two of its better points, but a clock speed of 1.4GHz looks amiss in its upper-middle price group, and thus it takes the title of the main hardware-related con. This much speed pales in comparison to the Blade V8 Pro's, which maxes out at 2GHz.

Lastly, its 2730mAh battery is also no match to the V8 Pro's 3140mAh tank, but at its price range, it's still a relatively-good amount of power to be lugging around.
In this pros and cons review, the ZTE Blade V8 has established itself as a model that has better selfie camera specs, but is less-endowed in terms of performance and video-recording abilities compared to the Blade V8 Pro and many of its peers. Coming in at a slightly-lower price range, however, this might just be the compromise that will help it carve out its own following in the mid-to-high-end market niche.
