ZTE Blade V8 Mini Review of Pros And Cons

The ZTE Blade V8 Mini puts the majority of its ammo in its arsenal of camera specs. Packing a dual 13-megapixel + 2-megapixel rear camera (which is something we rarely see in mid-range devices), it boasts 3D Capture and the ability to produce an enhanced bokeh effect . In terms of raw megapixels alone, it doesn't objectively stand out -- but the bells and whistles attached to its shooters give it more oomph than your average mid-ranger. On top of this, it features a wide camera aperture range that enables users to customize the value from f/1.0 to f/8.0 .

A 1280 x 720 display resolution may still be considered passable by some people since the Blade V8 Mini parades a 5-inch-only screen. However, the combination of these two specs end up in a pixel density that falls behind the 300DPI mark (at roughly 294DPI ). This can be seen as a con, as many competing models finer screens in comparison.

As for physical pros and cons, the Blade V8 Mini is thicker than many of its counterparts from other brands. At 8.9mm, it's even bulkier than the average across all phones as of March 2017 , which is quite disappointing considering that its display is rather small. Its metallic finish is a pro, however, as it gives the V8 Mini a sophisticated look.

Performance-wise, we're glad to see that the V8 Mini doesn't miss out on sporting eight cores , but its relatively-slower 1.4GHz clock speed is quite bothersome. Memory-wise, it doesn't offer anything beyond what's expected of its 2GB RAM and 16GB internal capacity.

Lastly, its 2800mAh battery presents another pro. Although we would have loved it if ZTE has gone beyond the 3000mAh mark, the V8 Mini still has a relatively-big amount of fuel to power it through tasks.

Undoubtedly, the mid-tier ZTE Blade V8 Mini has its own set of interesting pros and cons. It may have scaled back on other features to maximize the imaging experience attached to it, but this only makes it a strong contender for the photography-loving crowd who aren't ready to splurge on a flagship.
