By USB cable:
The Palm Pixi Plus features the "USB Mass Storage" norm. Get a USB cable (There might be one in your Palm Pixi Plus package) and, linking your Palm Pixi Plus to the computer should make it appear as a memory key. Open it and just drag and drop audio files directly to your Palm Pixi Plus, just as if it was a folder in your computer. For the remaining steps, please refer to your Palm Pixi Plus owner's manual. The ringtone chapter should explain how to assign a recently uploaded file as a ringtone.
Using Bluetooth:
The Palm Pixi Plus is Bluetooth-equipped. Bluetooth is a wireless protocol which lets you connect your cell phone to other devices. If your computer is also Bluetooth-enabled, simply connect both devices and transfer your audio files from your computer to your Palm Pixi Plus.
Just record sound directly:
Since your Palm Pixi Plus has a sound recorder (also known as "voice memo"), a very simple technique involves just putting your phone near your computer's speakers, playing whatever music or sound you'd like as a ringtone, and recording it -- you can even use your voice, your child's voice or even your cat's "meow!" Record it with your mobile and "voilą!" Unless that function was specifically blocked on the Palm Pixi Plus, you should be able to navigate to the ringtones sub-menu and assign that recording as a ringtone. Of course, the sound quality won't be perfect but, at least, it's free!
Using a 3G Uploader:
If these tips do not work for you or if you don't want to buy extra accessories, you can always use one of various free "3G Uploader" services available online. You should find plenty with a simple Katapulco.com search. 3G uploaders are easy to use: Upload your own free ringtones on their web site and they will return a temporary web address. Pointing your Palm Pixi Plus's web browser to that address will download the free ringtone.
