As we expected out of a Pro version, the Asus Zenfone 4 Pro struts around the high-end Android market with several upgrades over the plain Zenfone 4.

Most of its pros revolve around the dual-rear-camera system sitting on its back end. It comes with a standard 12-megapixel camera decked out with 4K video-recording support , a Sony IMX362 sensor that we've previously seen on competing flagships , and an amalgam of DualPixel phase-detection autofocus, laser-aided focusing, and continuous focus -- talk about a mouthful of high-class camera specs. More-interestingly, however, it features a supplementary 16-megapixel IMX351-sensor Zoom Camera right alongside its main shooter, enabling up to 2x optical zooming (for a 10x total zoom, according to Asus) and an impressive 50mm maximum focal length .

Both its cameras, by the way, rock sapphire lens covers and are powered by Qualcomm's flagship-caliber Spectra Image Signal Processor . As for its selfie cam, the Zenfone 4 Pro banks on an 8-megapixel f/1.9 frontal camera with the same PixelMaster 4.0 camera suite featured by its rear-facing cam , we are not fully sold, though, since it apparently lacks a front-firing LED flash .

For all the flair it packs on the imaging department, the Zenfone 4 Pro does not quite deliver anything premium-class in terms of display, touting a 5.5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080) screen , which honestly could have been a QHD (2560 x 1440) interface, given its high-octane hardware -- we'll get to that in a bit. That said, not many of its FHD-screen competitors reach a 500nit maximum brightness and a 100% NTSC rating .

Roaring behind its facade is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor whose clock speed peaks at a smoldering (by 2017 standards) 2.45GHz . Moreover, it overpowers the original Zenfone 4's already-high-end 4GB RAM, lugging a mammoth 6GB RAM capacity this time. In relation to its top-notch processing components, we found its 3600mAh battery capacity to be its least-impressive facet, particularly because it flounders versus the 4000mAh (and higher) power caps rocked by several other 6GB-RAM models. We do not feel too salty about it, though, since it reaches up to 17 hours of continuous Wi-Fi browsing and has Asus's signature BoostMaster technology at the ready, promising up to 2 hours of talk time after a 5-minute charge .

Adding to its pros and cons is a 128GB internal memory (It is also offered in a 64GB version) and a whopping 2TB's worth of top-up storage support , the highest microSD allowance on the market as of its release. It also blazes past most other 2017 high-enders with its 600Mbps maximum data rate on LTE Cat 12 networks , which goes up to as high as 866Mbps on 11ac Wi-Fi connections . Three noise-cancelling microphones , Bluetooth v5.0 , and a standard (for high-end models) fingerprint recognition system join in on the action as well.

Holding the Zenfone 4 Pro's features together is a diamond-cut metal body coated in either Moonlight White or Pure Black, clearly to give it the premium accent befitting its high-class pros and cons as well as its upscale target users.
