Blackview A60 Review of Pros And Cons

The 2019 Blackview A60 is a high-stamina entry-level Android Go smartphone whose biggest cons can be found under the hood. These include a practically-outmoded 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek processor coupled with an equally-disappointing 1GB-only RAM -- a lot of budget phones with tantamount screen real estates run on basic eight-core engines and do not go any lower than 3GB of RAM. Having said that, its Android Go platform is specifically designed to augment the performance of low-specked (hardware-wise) models like itself.

The A60's specs are also marred by the absence of a typical fingerprint sensor and its lack of support for NFC , the latter being a widely-used wireless protocol for mobile wallet management and peer-to-peer data transfers. Moreover, it is limited to a 3G-only network reach , making it sound sluggish compared to most other 2019-released Androids in terms of connectivity.

Its mix of pros and cons is not too shabby for a sub-100-dollar smartphone, though, since it includes a 4080mAh battery that comes off as benevolent, relative to its undemanding hardware setup. Its battery supports an expansive 6.1-inch IPS display that brings to mind some popular phablets listed here on Phonerated with its 19.2:9 aspect ratio , waterdrop notch design, and 92 percent screen-to-body ratio. It also comes with a damage-resistant AGC Dragontrail cover glass .

Also among its pros is a dual rear camera consisting of a 13-megapixel f/2.0-aperture primary cam and a dedicated depth sensor, consequently enabling bokeh photography or hardware-level background blurring. That said, the A60 offers nothing fancy when it comes to selfies, settling for a mundane 5-megapixel front-facing camera .

This model offers an unimpressive 16GB internal memory that can at least be expanded by a maximum of 128GB -- a few similarly-specked models support only 64GB memory cards. It comes with two SIM card slots and it is offered in Green, Blue, and Black.

So, as far as our review of its pros and cons is concerned, the Blackview A60 is a solid choice for budget-cautious shoppers who prefer a large-screen, high-endurance smartphone.

On-paper Review rating:

Cons (or Not-so-great Features):

Unknown SAR rating:

Be it because Blackview didn't list the information on its web site or because we were unable to find it, but we don't know the SAR rating (radiation level) for the A60, so we cannot say how close it is to the acceptable limit.

Slower smartphone:

Not too long ago, this smartphone's processing specs would have appeared nice, but compared to recent smartphones, this 1.3GHz MediaTek MT6580A/WA processor with only 1GB (DDR3) of RAM looks a little pale.

Unknown weight:

It's frustrating that we were not able to find information about its weight.

Pros:

Quad-core microprocessor:

Not only does it clock at 1.3GHz, it is even quad-core.

High-resolution (13-megapixel (combined with a depth camera)) camera:

It sports a superior-resolution camera (13-megapixel (combined with a depth camera)) with the following options: Bokeh.

Incredible battery life:

If Blackview's measurements are accurate, the A60 and its (4080mAh)

Average front cam:

The selfie cam resolution seems just about average.
