BLU Dash L5 LTE Pros & Cons Review

Essentially a version of the Dash L4 LTE (which also came out in 2017) for entry-level smartphone shoppers who find 4-inch screens too tiny for their taste, the BLU Dash L5 LTE extends its predecessor's 4-inch facade to 5 inches. Having said that, it ends up in the same miserable category as the L4 LTE in terms of resolution, sticking to an ancient 854 x 480 (FWVGA) definition . Especially that there are many better BLU phones out there, if you look at our list of the best BLU phones as of now.

In addition to its measly display, its cons also include a 2000mAh-only battery capacity , which even though is a significant boost over the Dash L4 LTE's 1700mAh, still flounders in comparison to the power caps of several low-end Androids with tantamount pros and cons -- in particular, those that cap off at around 2500mAh. If you're looking to go well beyond entry-level norms, however, we've prepared a big-battery smartphones list right here.

Performance is also not among its strong points, using a modest 1.1GHz MediaTek 6737 quad-core processor coupled with a 1GB-only RAM that obviously does not promise much with regards to multitasking, especially knowing that 8GB was the ceiling for RAM among flagship smartphones as of this technical review -- feel free to explore some 8GB-RAM smartphones here.

Despite the setbacks mentioned above, the Dash L5 LTE's spec sheet also includes some notable high points, one of which is its 5-megapixel front-facing camera rocking its own frontal LED flash -- a lot of its contemporaries settle for 2- or 3.2-megapixel selfie cams. It also features a matte and polish pattern finish on its battery lid, although it is only offered in a mundane black finish.

Among its other pros and cons are a Mali-T720 graphics processor , which sounds like a nice accompaniment to its basic CPU and RAM, and a so-so 8GB native memory expandable by up to 64GB . A 5-megapixel rear-facing main camera that captures only HD-720p videos at best sits on its back side. Like most other unlocked budget Androids from BLU, it offers dual micro SIM card slots.

Topping off the BLU Dash L5 LTE's specs are standard 4G LTE connectivity and the Android 7.0 Nougat ecosystem, making it a respectable model for entry-level smartphone shoppers who want to get in on some 4G action.
