- Analysis by KJ David

Not exactly that big of an improvement over the 2018 iteration, the BLU Studio Mega 2019 is bedecked with a budget-class assortment of pros and cons. These are led by its 6-inch display, which, even though sticks to a low-key 720p-only resolution and 286ppi-only pixel density, reminds us of some higher-class large-screen models listed here on Phonerated with its 18:9 aspect ratio and curved glass finish -- many of its 2019 contemporaries stick to narrower 16:9 solutions only.

Over on the hardware front, even though this Studio Mega's 1.6GHz octa-core processor flounders in comparison to the engines used by the fastest phones in town, we marked it as a tolerable pro, knowing that its 2018 predecessor is marred by a cheap 1.3GHz quad-core chip. Its jump from a measly 1GB RAM to 2GB and from only 2600mAh of raw battery power to a full 3000mAh sound appreciable as well.

Storage-wise, we expected something more than a 32GB memory expandable by only up to 64GB , especially since a lot of its 2019 entry-level competitors support up to 128GB's worth of external storage. Its lack of a fingerprint reader winds up as a con in our book as well, considering the number of budget phones offering both fingerprint-based security and facial recognition.

Heading over to its photography specs, the Studio Mega 2019 offers an 8-megapixel selfie cam aided by a dedicated LED flash that puts it slightly above most similarly-priced smartphones that settle for makeshift screen flash functions only -- it won't find itself alongside the best selfie phones as of this technical review, though, seeing that the models on that list pack at least 13-megapixel selfie cams. At the back, it features a typical 13-megapixel LED-flash main camera.

With all those pros and cons in mind, this Studio Mega edition caters to budget-cautious shoppers in search of a low-cost, selfie-oriented Android phone.

On-paper Review rating:

First, the Cons:

Unknown SAR rating:

Be it because BLU didn't list the information on its web site or because we were unable to find it, but we don't know the SAR rating (radiation level) for the Studio Mega 2019, so we cannot say how close it is to the acceptable limit.

Unknown weight:

It's disappointing that we could not find its weight information.

And Now, the Pros:

Huge screen:

The screen is big, making it a phablet: 6 inches and a resolution of 1440 x 720 pixels means about 14.39 square inches and an image sharpness of at least 286 dots per inch (DPI)!

High-definition (13-megapixel) camera:

It includes a superior-resolution camera (13-megapixel)

Average front cam:

The selfie cam resolution seems just about average.

In-box accessories:

The box comes with: Cleaning cloth, Silicone case, Sticker.
