Coolpad Legacy Go Review & Pros And Cons

No more than a low-specked prepaid smartphone that was priced at roughly 80 dollars as of this specs-based review, the Coolpad Legacy Go hops on the Android Go bandwagon. The Go Edition is essentially an efficiency-driven version of the stock Android Oreo operating system designed to take up less phone memory and data allocation, making it a fitting OS for models with low-caliber hardware pros and cons, such as this one.

Speaking of hardware, the Legacy Go runs on nothing but a dated 1.1GHz quad-core Qualcomm MSM8909 processor alongside a measly 1GB-only RAM , both of which sound quite primitive when compared to the hardware components offered by some competing prepaid smartphones listed here on Phonerated.

Adding to its cons is its paltry 8GB internal memory that can be expanded by a mere 32GB -- a good number of other low-end phones of its generation support 128GB memory cards.

Sitting alongside its aforementioned under-the-hood features is a 2150mAh battery whose raw power capacity seems underwhelming, even coming from a low-end smartphone. It promises a 12-hour talk time (720 minutes) that was roughly 20 percent lower than the average mark as we were writing this.

The Legacy Go is not without some pros, though, one of which is its 4G-LTE connectivity that, believe it or not, is not offered by a few other low-budget 2019 models. It also comes with VoLTE and Wi-Fi calling capabilities , both promising to enhance the phone's overall in-call audio quality.

Adding to its modest pros and cons are a 5-megapixel primary camera aided by an LED flash and a dismal 2-megapixel-only front cam . This Coolpad model touts a 5-inch FWVGA-480p display and a humdrum Gray exterior.

All said, the Legacy Go winds up as a tolerable choice for budget-cautious shoppers looking for an Android phone that was crafted with simplicity in mind.

On-paper Star rating:

First, the Cons:

Below-average front cam:

By today's standards, we demand more than just 2-megapixel of selfie cam resolution.

SAR rating info not found:

We were unable to find SAR (radiation level) information for this phone.

Slower smartphone:

Not too long ago, this smartphone's processing specs would have appeared nice, but compared to recent smartphones, this 1.1GHz Qualcomm MSM8909 processor with only 1GB of RAM looks a little pale.

Unknown weight:

It's frustrating that we were not able to find information about its weight.

Pros:

Quad-core CPU:

Not only does it clock at 1.1GHz, it's also quad-core.
