- Analysis by KJ David

The DOOGEE S70 is a 2018-released 6-incher whose array of pros and cons combines some rugged specs with some gaming perks, making it a fitting choice for outdoor lovers who also spend a lot of time on mobile games -- check out some of the best rugged Androids here.

Kicking off with its rugged features, the S70 passes both IP68/69K and MIL-STD-810G rugged certifications . The former makes its 13.6mm-thick shell dust- and water-tight, while the latter gives it native resistance to temperature extremes, salt fogs, and accidental drops onto concrete or other hard surfaces.

Like a good number of high-endurance phones featured here on Phonerated, the S70 packs a robust battery, in the form of an inbuilt 5500mAh lithium-ion cell that's enabled for both wired (using a 12V/2A charger) and wireless charging.

Its aforementioned large battery ties up nicely with pros like Game Mode , which, when activated using its dedicated physical button, clears background apps and prevents notifications from popping up during gaming marathons. The S70 is also compatible with DOOGEE's Gamepad, a Bluetooth-enabled accessory that turns the phone into a makeshift joystick.

Sadly, since it claims to be a gaming smartphone, its 6-inch 1080p 403ppi display winds up as a con in our book, knowing that some of the best phablets and gaming phones bluster with QHD/QHD+ 1440p displays. Its 64GB native memory sounds underwhelming as well (Some tantamount models start out with 128GB of storage), although it can be expanded by up to 128GB using a microSD card.

Working from under the hood is a high-tier Helio P23 eight-core 2.5GHz processor that puts the S70 a level higher versus some of its closest rugged competitors when it comes to raw clock speed. It is aided by a large 6GB RAM and a 770MHz Mali G71 MP2 graphics engine, both of which were well within the high-end territory as of this technical review.

The rest of its pros and cons include a 12- plus 5-megapixel dual rear camera with a dual phase-detection autofocus system (dual PDAF) and a passable 16-megapixel 80-degree-angle front-facing secondary camera. It runs on the Android 8.1 Oreo OS and offers two nano SIM card trays.

To rehash, DOOGEE's S70 is a high-stamina rugged smartphone that suits heavy mobile gamers who also happen to love the great outdoors.
