A 2019 successor to the Honor 7A, the Huawei Honor 8A belongs to the middle-class Android category, at least insofar as its technical pros and cons are concerned. Its biggest drawbacks include the low-key 1560 x 720 (HD sharpness and measly 282ppi pixel density of its otherwise phablet-worthy 6.09-inch dewdrop-notch display. In comparison, many of the best phablets tout FHD/FHD+ (1080p) screen resolutions and have at least 400ppi definitions.
Also among its underwhelming specs is an 8-megapixel fixed-focus selfie camera , seeing that a few closely-comparable 2019 releases from competing brands tout at least 13-megapixel front-facing cams. Its 13-megapixel f/1.8-aperture primary cam, which comes with phase focusing, sounds tolerable, though.

We also flagged its 3020mAh battery capacity as a slight con, if only because some similarly-sized smartphones listed here on Phonerated pack 4000mAh batteries.
The rest of its hardware components are surefire pros, however, at least by the budget smartphone standards around the time of this on-paper review. It runs on a MediaTek Helio P35 (MT6765) octa-core 2.3GHz processor , which is a huge upgrade over the Honor 7A's mediocre 1.4GHz-only engine, even though it shies of the roughly-2.5GHz chips powering the best octa-core models on the market.
It is accompanied by a either 3GB or 2GB of RAM, while a 64GB maximum storage memory expandable by up to 512GB takes charge of its multimedia storage -- a good number of its rivals support 256GB memory cards only.
Just like its direct predecessor, the Honor 8A features a twofold biometric security system , combining a circular fingerprint scanner and a face unlock function. It also dons a dual-texture design that could give it a slight edge versus a lot of other models in this class in terms of aesthetics.
With the Android 9.0 Pie (with EMUI 9.0) tying together its pros and cons, this Honor model makes for a solid choice for those eying a mid-range smartphone with a spacious screen.

We're dealing with a hefty display here, making it a phablet: 6.1 (actual diagonal size is 6.09 inches) inches and a resolution of 1560 x 720 pixels means about 14.18 square inches and an image quality of at least 282 dots per inch (DPI)!
It includes a high-resolution built-in camera (13-megapixel)
The selfie cam resolution seems just about average.
