Named after the original Honor Magic, which hit the market way back in 2016, the Huawei Honor Magic 2 looks to dazzle its upmarket target clientele by being one of the first smartphones to rock a total of 6 cameras -- it has 3 lenses at the back and 3 lenses up front, potentially securing a seat alongside some of the best phones for photography. Its triple-lens rear cam is composed of a 16-megapixel primary sensor, a 16-megapixel wide-angle lens, and a high-resolution 24-megapixel monochrome lens, with its imaging pros and cons being led by Huawei's Artificial Image Stabilization (AIS) technology.
On the other hand, its front-facing camera setup, which brings to mind Phonerated's list of selfie-first smartphones, consists of a 16-megapixel primary lens accompanied by two 2-megapixel sidekick lenses. By the way, its selfie cam sits on a rarely-seen (as of this review) slide-out panel . As a result, its near-bezel-less screen looks smoother than those of many other competing high-end phablets, since there's no need for a screen notch.
Speaking of its display, while its 6.39-inch screen real estate sounds spacious, its 1080p-only (2340 x 1080, to be exact) screen resolution is a slight con, at least versus the 2K-1440p facades boasted by some rival flagships -- heck, its 2016 predecessor even comes with a 2K screen. Also among its drawbacks is its 3400mAh-only battery power , which sounds underwhelming, given the number of tantamount models that lug 4000mAh (or higher) battery cells.
This 206g-heavy Huawei flagship runs on the brand's high-octane 7nm Kirni 980 AI-powered octa-core engine , which operates on three distinct clusters -- a dual-core main cluster running at 2.6GHz, a subsidy dual-core cluster clocked at 1.96GHz, and a quad-core 1.8GHz efficiency cluster. Its hardware pros also include a massive 8GB RAM and 256GB's worth of on-board memory , although a variant with a lower specs configuration (6GB RAM, 128GB memory) is also available.

Joining its array of pros and cons is an optical in-display fingerprint scanner , a 3D facial recognition system, and Huawei's self-branded YOYO smart assistant, all of which top the Honor Magic 2 off as a smartphone for tech-savvy mobile photographers.
On-paper Review score:
We didn't see a memory expansion slot.
It's frustrating that we could not find its weight information.

It was among the earliest smartphones to feature triple-lens camera systems on both its rear and front sides.
Its Dual 2.6GHz (+ Dual 1.92GHz + Quad 1.8GHz) processor speed combined with 8 cores is part of the fastest.

The screen is larger than usual, making it a phablet: 6.4 (actual diagonal is 6.39 inches) inches and a resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels means about 15.57 square inches and an image quality of at least 402.75 dots per inch (DPI)!
The Honor Magic 2 is has an exceptional 16-megapixel (combined with 24- and 16-megapixel sub-cams) camera.
The 16-megapixel (combined with two 2-megapixel sub-cams) selfie cam offers an above-decent resolution.
