The Lenovo K5 Note 2018 (It shares its name with the much-older K5 Note that debuted back in 2015) is a variant of the K5 that extends base model's 5.7 screen size to a full 6 inches. Sadly, despite rocking a much-larger display, this Note edition won't be joining this Phonerated list of the most noteworthy phablets anytime soon, seeing that it sticks to a 1440 x 720 HD+ resolution only -- an awkwardly-low screen resolution, considering its screen size and wide 18:9 aspect ratio .

The K5 Note 2018's hardware pros and cons are led by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 eight-core 1.8GHz processor that sounds undistinguished, at least compared to the engines powering the best octa-core smartphones on the market, most of which easily pass the 2GHz clock rate threshold. We also cannot help but wish that this K5 variant came with at least 4000mAh of power , if only to match its spacious screen, although its 3760mAh raw battery capacity is by no means a con, considering the rest of its features. Joining the forenamed specs in the engine room is a 4GB RAM (Lenovo also ships a 3GB-only version) that sounds just about right for a mid-level 6-incher.

This wide-screen Android, which, by the way, runs on Lenovo's ZUI 3.9 Android 8.1 Oreo overlay, just about hits the 2018 mid-range bullseye when it comes to imaging, rocking a dual rear camera that's made up of a 16-megapixel f/2.0 primary cam and a modest 2-megapixel sidekick camera for depth-of-field analysis. Note, though, that some of the best photography-driven smartphones boast depth cams with much higher resolutions. Nevertheless, this Note model's dual cam delivers things like background blurring and a typical FHD-1080p video-recording resolution. On the other hand, its 8-megapixel fixed-focus selfie camera was no longer that impressive as we were reviewing the K5 Note 2018's pros and cons. It does, however, carry the phone's Face Unlock feature , which partners with its rear-mounted fingerprint sensor on the security front.

Rounding out its features is a 64GB maximum internal memory (It also comes with a 32GB-only variant) coupled with a generous 256GB top-up storage allowance , both of which are highly-welcome pros in the mid-range phablet department.

Donning a metal frame and coming in either Polar Black, Green Blue, or Asahi Gold, the Lenovo K5 Note 2018 caters to large-screen smartphone shoppers who don't want to go dive into flagship territory just yet.
