Motorola Moto C Pros & Cons Review

A low-budget smartphone for practical users who just want the essentials and don't care for any of the fancy stuff, the Motorola Moto C's array of pros and cons include a measly 5-inch screen sitting on an FWVGA (854 x 480) resolution -- one of the least-appealing screen definitions on the market, although we would say that its facade is representative of its overall specs profile.

Adding to its cons is the Moto C's low-class MediaTek 6737M 64-bit quad-core 1.1GHz processor , which is coupled with no more than 1GB of RAM . To tech junkies like us, this hardware setup sounds quite depressing, knowing that budget-tier eight-core Androids (Check out some octa-core phones here) were no longer that scarce as of this technical review. Then again, its hardware setup is probably just what its off-putting 480p screen needs.

As for its cameras, the Moto C comes with a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing secondary cam, both of which are not only famished in terms of resolution , but are also limited to fixed focus capabilities -- autofocus was a staple camera pro as of its 2017 release. Sure, its selfie cam is aided by a front-firing LED light , but it's gonna need more than a frontal flash to really attract selfie addicts, even those browsing the entry-level catalogs -- a lesson we learned from the best selfie smartphones on the market. Both its cameras record HD (1280 x 720) videos at 30fps, by the way.

The Moto C's pros and cons also include a 16GB internal memory that sounds generous compared to the 8GB-only built-in storage caps offered by many of its low-end competitors. Unfortunately, it only supports 32GB microSD cards , while a good number of its contemporaries support 64GB or even 128GB cards. Another selling point -- if only a slight one -- is its micro-textured back cover that aims to spice up its otherwise mundane feature set on the design front.

A couple more of its features include an unimpressive 2350mAh battery (It comes with a 5W charger) and 4G LTE connectivity , the latter winding up as a slight pro, knowing that many models with tantamount screens and hardware setups settle for 3G bands only. It is offered in colors like Metallic Cherry and Fine Gold and it runs Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box.

In the end, though the Moto C has no standout spec whatsoever, it does cater to pragmatic users looking for a 4G-ready budget Android phone.
