The 2018 F7, like most of its predecessors under Oppo's F-series, is a selfie-driven upmarket smartphone whose biggest con is its disturbing lack of an all-but-standard NFC (Near Field Communication) adapter . Additionally, it settles for a 3400mAh-only battery pack , whereas some of its closest rivals in this Phonerated list of the best phones for selfies support their ambitious selfie cams with at least 4000mAh's worth of raw power.

Going back to its selfie cam, the Oppo F7 is one of only a few (at least as we were reviewing its pros and cons) smartphones whose front-facing cameras easily overshadow their rear-facing primary cams. It boasts a 25-megapixel selfie cam that's decked out with things like real-time HDR and AI Beauty 2.0 , the latter being an AI-powered facial recognition system that beautifies selfies depending on the subjects' facial patterns. It also features the AR Stickers app that lets users create playful avatars for social media. Sadly, it does not come with a dedicated front-firing LED light , a slight blemish on its otherwise flagship-class selfie shooter.

As for its rear cam, the F7 sports a 16-megapixel f/1.8 camera , which, even though flounders in comparison to its aforementioned front-facing camera, still sounds decent on a 2018-released mid- to high-end smartphone.

Jumping over to its screen, the F7 mimics many high-tier phablets by touting a 6.2-inch In-Cell IPS display with an expansive 19:9 aspect ratio , which was among the widest screen solutions available when we were checking out its specs.

Its pros and cons are powered by MediaTek's Helio P60 eight-core 2GHz processor, which we are reluctant to call a pro, considering that the best octa-core smartphones around use eight-core chips that clock in at more or less 2.5GHz. What's a surefire selling point, however, is its hefty 6GB maximum RAM capacity -- a 4GB-only version is also available. The variant with only 4GB of RAM comes with 64GB of native storage, while the 6GB-RAM version packs 128GB of memory .

Offered in three colors, namely, Diamond Black, Solar Red, and Moonlight Silver (4GB-RAM version only), the Oppo F7 winds up as a solid choice for upscale shoppers who value a phone's selfie capabilities more than anything else.
