The Xgody D28 is a low-class smartphone that flounders in comparison to a good number of other low-budget smartphones of its generation, seeing that its cons are led by the awkward absence of 4G LTE network connectivity in its list of features, which most of its unlocked rivals offer. Also, like plenty of other basic smartphones, it relies on a highly-outmoded MediaTek MTK6580 1.3GHz quad-core processor and a miserable 1GB-only RAM .

Also among its pros and cons are a humdrum 5-megapixel main camera and a pitiful 2-megapixel-only front-facing secondary cam , neither of which pose a threat to the 13-megapixel main cams and 8-megapixel selfie shooters offered by some of the D28's entry-level competitors. This Xgody model's specs also include a 16GB memory , which sounds somewhat tolerable, at least relative to the 8GB-only native storage caps offered by a some other basic Androids available as of this on-paper review. On the contrary, its 32GB top-up memory ceiling is outright disappointing, knowing that a lot of similarly-specked devices support 128GB memory cards.

The D28 is powered by a 2500mAh battery that has some underwhelming stress test scores, including an 84-hour-only standby time that was over 75 percent lower than the average value as we were writing this. Needless to say, this model is not for those eying a full-blown high-stamina phone.

Even though the D28 features a mediocre 5.5-inch 960 x 540 (FWVGA) IPS display , the rest of its exterior are held together by an aluminum alloy frame , which winds up as a solid pro in our book, especially since many tantamount low-end smartphones come with less-sturdy case materials.

The D28's pros and cons include the Android 7.0 Nougat ecosystem, which tops it off as a viable choice for those who are looking for no more than a low-budget basic smartphone.

On-paper Review score:

Cons (or Not-so-great Features):

Surprisingly low battery life:

The D28's 840 minutes of talk time are much lower than what you usually see.

Below-average front cam:

By today's standards, we demand more than just 2-megapixel of selfie cam resolution.

Unknown SAR rating:

We were unable to get this phone's radiation level. Therefore, we can't determine how close it is to the limit.

Slower smartphone:

A year ago, this smartphone's on-paper performance would have appeared nice, but compared to recent smartphones, the 1.3GHz MediaTek MTK6580 processor with only 1GB of RAM seems a little pale.

Unknown weight:

It's disappointing that we could not find its weight information.

Pros:

Quad-core processor:

Not only does it clock at 1.3GHz, it's also quad-core.

In-box accessories:

These accessories are included: Case, Screen protector film.
