ZTE Blade A6 Review of Pros And Cons

The Blade A6 is a member of ZTE's 2017 mid-range Android catalogue that slices its way into the big battery smartphone category rather easily, but before we talk about its massive battery (which is its biggest pro), let's kick off this specs-driven review with a couple of unappealing cons.

For starters, the ZTE Blade A6 opts for a rather mild 5.2-inch HD 1280 x 720 display , which we think is quite the mismatch for its generous battery and mid-end hardware setup -- a good number of its middle-tier rivals sport FHD (1920 x 1080) displays. Additionally, since high-resolution selfie cameras (some with autofocus capabilities) were all the rage when the Blade A6 came out, its 8-megapixel fixed-focus front camera ends up as an obvious weak point. At the back, it has a 13-megapixel LED-flash camera that was right on the money for a middle-class smartphone around the time of its market entry.

The crown jewel of its mix of pros and cons is the Blade A6's whopping 5000mAh battery capacity that outstrips the power caps of most other mid-end 2017 Androids by quite a huge margin. For instance, the Blade A610 , which is one of its closest relatives, only has a 4000mAh cell, and even that was already very generous in its time. Apart from raw power, the Blade A6 also boasts a couple of reassuring self-attributed battery scores: A 37-hour maximum talk time (2220 minutes) that's over 180% higher versus the average mark as of this write-up and an equally-promising 800-hour standby period .

This 5.2-incher joins the octa-core race by running on a Qualcomm MSM8940 split-eight-core processor, which although is a tad low-key, being clocked at only 1.4GHz + 1.1GHz , gives it an octa-core punch nevertheless . Alongside the forenamed CPU is 3GB's worth of RAM , while a 32GB internal memory expandable by up to 128GB is in charge of storage. Topping off its pros and cons is the Android 7.0 Nougat OS overlaid with ZTE's Mifavor UI version 4.2.

So, long story short, the 2017 Blade A6 has a not-so-sharp display, but it's definitely cut out to be a solid choice for those in search of a high-endurance mid-range smartphone.
