ZTE Blade Spark Review of Pros And Cons

- Analysis by Christelle Nina

As will be shown in the pros and cons list below, ZTE has evidently tried to ram as much value as it can in the Blade Spark. What eventually comes out is a semi-budget phone that isn't perfect, but is quite competitive at its release price point.

The 13-megapixel rear camera has a respectable shot-taking resolution. It also records 1080p videos , which is another plus. On the front, a 5-megapixel sensor runs the show. Value-wise, this amount of megapixels is decent, but it falls short in the context of not having a front-facing flash -- a feature that more and more budget releases are starting to offer.

Its 720p display isn't the finest at 267DPI . While such a resolution is not uncommon in the ZTE Blade Spark's subcategory, its phablet-level 5.5-inch screen size really takes a toll on the underlying pixel count. On the other hand, those who are prone to slips and slides will find delight in the Gorilla Glass 3 that covers the display.

The last pro is even more relevant since this device isn't the easiest thing to handle, having a relatively-heavy 6.12-ounce body . To add, it has failed to shave off some extra millimeters in the depth department, ending with an above-average thickness of 0.38 inches .

For battery junkies, these shortcomings with respect to portability may be justified by the fact that it offers 3140mAh's worth of juice .

We punctuate these pros and cons list with a mention of the Blade Spark's performance specs. A quad-core Snapdragon 425 processor, which runs at a decent 1.4GHz, manages things from the inside. To add, 2GB of RAM is a comfortable figure to have in this phone's market.

Compared to competing semi-budget smartphone models, the Blade Spark's battery, rear camera, and RAM give it an edge. But as we have previously-mentioned, it's not a perfect device -- and its weaknesses lie on the lack of handiness and on the quality of its display. In the end, we still think that it's a pretty competitive model for a not-insignificant portion of the Android market.
