Lenovo Zuk Edge Review of Pros And Cons

Picture of the Lenovo Zuk Edge, by Lenovo

Part of the first phones to be released with Android Nougat (v7.0) on-board, the Lenovo Zuk Edge flaunts a sleek design, as well as a decent set of specs under the hood. The Zuk Edge relies on a 2.35GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor , an Adreno 530 graphic processor, and a 64GB memory (there was no mention of whether memory was expandable or not ). The 5.5-incher's RAM goes all the way up to 6GB , while another variant, the Zuk Edge L, only allows up to 4GB. Both versions still fare better RAM-wise compared to most of Lenovo's previous phones (Lenovo Zuk Z2, Lenovo K6, Lenovo A6600 Plus, etc.).

This phone's camera specs also make it to the pros and cons list, featuring a just-slightly-above-average camera duo (a 13-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel selfie camera are cons, which is weak in contrast with the other better specs of this device). The rear camera is capable of recording videos in slow motion at 960 frames per second and its features include Continuous Auto-focus (CAF), Phase-detection Auto-focus (PDAF), an f/2.2 aperture, and a 5P lens .

The 3100mAh lithium polymer battery slightly exceeds that of the iPhone 7 Plus and of the Lenovo K6, but its older siblings, the Zuk Z2 (3500mAh) and Zuk Z1 (4100mAh) are equipped with more battery power. The Zuk Edge's battery is built-in and can not easily be replaced , which would register as a con rather than a pro.

The Lenovo Zuk Edge somehow resembles the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 when on standby, and can be awakened via its U-Touch fingerprint sensor. Lenovo claims that the U-touch fingerprint recognition speed can be as fast as 0.09 seconds . It seems relatively thin with its 7.68mm thickness and its 5.5-inch screen is Full HD with 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass . It adds Dirac HD Hi-Fi audio and a USB 3.1 Type-C port as additional pros.

Although the Lenovo Zuk Edge's cameras are not head-turners, its combination of a 6GB RAM and a 4-core 2.35GHz processor seems to edge its way to the top, performance-wise. The Zuk Edge may allow more multitasking as well as a better phone gaming experience, as it targets users that look for high-performance phones on a tight budget.
