BLU Grand XL LTE Pros & Cons Review

A 4G-LTE network adapter may be its most-obvious pro over the plain Grand XL, but BLU's Grand XL LTE upgrades more than its sibling's poor network reach.

For instance, it now comes with a 3200mAh battery pack , which we would take any day over the original model's relatively modest 2650mAh cell. Having said that, it still suffers from a basic-level 1.3GHz quad-core processor , although it now has 2GB's worth of RAM (A 1GB-RAM version is also offered) and a Mali-T720 graphics chip in tow.

Compared to its base model with respect to imaging, the Grand XL LTE ends up a winner, since it touts a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera and an 8-megapixel selfie camera . We know, these cams are not quite on high-end territory, but they obviously outstrip the plain Grand XL's 8- and 5-megapixel shooters accordingly. The fact that this 4G-ready version slaps an LED flash onto both cameras helps as well.

In spite of the upgrades mentioned above, the Grand XL LTE does not escape the original's measly (by 2017 standards) 5.5-inch HD-720p display -- we were expecting at least a Full HD (1080p) sharpness. In a lighter note, though, it comes with a curved glass screen cover that is also present in many of its budget-class competitors. Additionally, its pros and cons are held together by an aluminum body crafted using the popular CNC technology , though this feature has grown to be a standard facet among mid- and high-end devices.

Its remaining specs include either 16GB or 8GB of internal memory accompanied by an up-to-64GB microSD allowance , which is a con, given the fact that many similarly-specked devices support at least 128GB microSD cards. Rounding things out for this LTE spinoff is the Android 7.0 Nougat operating system and dual SIM card slots.

To rehash, with the pros and cons that it puts forward, the BLU Grand XL LTE is cut out to be a respectable purchase for budget-tier Android shoppers who consider battery life span and imaging as top priorities.
