Coolpad's 2016 Note 5 features several noteworthy pros, a couple of which include its octa-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon 617 MSM8952 processor and hearty 4GB RAM . Given those high-end specs, however, we also took note of some awkward cons.
Among its drawbacks are the sub-average 200-hour standby period promised by its large 4010mAh battery , which at least scores a fitting 1200-minute maximum talk time . We also find the Note 5's up-to-64GB-only microSD support (32GB internal memory) rather awkward, especially for a phone with its kind of hardware and power cap. Many high-end shoppers may find its Dual Space system -- for separating work from personal use -- and fingerprint recognition respectable, though.
As for the rest of its pros and cons, even though its lack of 4K imaging sounds like a turn-off, the Note 5's duo of 13- and 8-megapixel f/2.2 cameras (each with their own accompanying flash) lands on high-end space nevertheless. Additionally, its 5.5-inch Full HD screen is protected by a 2.5D-curved cover glass , while the rest of its body is guarded by a single-piece aluminum housing .
In other words, though it lacks a couple of perks compared to some 2016 major-brand flagships, the Coolpad Note 5's passes as a phone for the high-end Android seeker in our book.
