The HP Elite X3 is a Windows 10 smartphone that literally functions as a PC for external devices like mice and keyboards, with the help of Windows Continuum as well as its dedicated Desk Dock .

Its premium-caliber pros include a 5.96-inch WQHD (2560 x 1440) 494ppi display and a 16-megapixel OIS-equipped (optical image stabilization) rear camera that sadly passes on a 4K video-capture mode . Also, while it comes with only 64GB of internal memory (several other top-end smartphones lug 128GB of storage), the X3 boasts a whopping up-to-2TB external memory support .

In terms of security, the X3 sits near the top of the food chain, with both iris scanning and fingerprint recognition among its specs. In charge of the heavy lifting are a flagship Snapdragon 820 quad-core processor clocked at 2.15GHz , 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM , and a 4150mAh battery reaching up to 33 hours of calling time . Also aboard are Microsoft's trademark Cortana voice assistant and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera , while a shell designed to pass IP67 (dust- and waterproofing) and MIL-STD-810G rugged standards ties its pros and cons together.

With a feature set likely holding its own versus what other 2016 flagship smartphones offer, the Elite X3 is undoubtedly a phone for an upscale clientele with business and productivity in mind.
