The Desire 516 might only be a pawn in the large pool of HTC models. Its 5-megapixel camera and 540x960 display resolution is easily inferior to most other HTC phones. It does, however, offer the same interface (and probably a cheaper price tag) with the signature Android-HTC OS. Despite a 1.2GHz Snapdragon 200 processor, it does run on 4-cores. At the very least, they loaded it with the BlinkFeed and Video Highlights apps, making it an HTC model for the tight-budget market.

The HTC Desire 516 can record HD (1240 x 720 pixels) clips. Awesome! But we couldn't determine whether it had an HDMI port or not. Granted, HDMI (which lets you connect to your HDTV), is not an absolute necessity, but it seems like a desirable feature on an HD phone.

Not too long ago, this smartphone's processing specs would have seemed ok, but in comparison to most recent smartphones, this 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor with just 1GB of RAM looks a little pale.

The HTC Desire 516 doesn't come with an included memory card but it has a slot for up to 32GB of memory expansion, which will be convenient to save videos and pictures shot with the included 5-megapixel camera.
It records video clips at 30 frames per second, which is a high-enough fps rating by today's video phone expectations.
