HTC One M8 Harman Kardon Review of The Pros And Cons

Picture of the HTC One M8 Harman Kardon, by HTC

HTC's BoomSound technology made some noise for the One M8 and captured the attention of audiophiles. However, it was not perfect (at least for HTC), hence the Harman Kardon edition One M8 with its bold claim of an "unmatched audio" quality. Unlike its older brother, the Harman Kardon version comes with a pair of AE earbuds (by Harman Kardon), and features Harman's Clari-Fi and LiveStage audio enhancement technologies, which we consider worth mentioning as pros in its pros and cons. According to HTC, Clari-Fi improves the sound quality of compressed audio files by restoring dynamics that are lost during digital compression.

The LiveStage feature, on the other hand, is supposed to add depth to music tracks, giving them a more life-like sound (it works only on earphones and speakers connected to the 3.5mm headset jack). Design- and specs-wise, the two versions are nearly identical (except for the colors and the Harman Kardon logo), both sporting HTC's signature BoomSound speakers with built-in amplifiers. However, we don't quite understand why such a high-end flagship device has to be confined to a single provider (Sprint). We don't see too many cons to moan about, HTC fails to clarify if there were hardware differences as far as audio enhancement is concerned. If there was not, the bundled earbuds would be the only real physical difference between the two versions.
